PCB Testing & Programming
Development of compact, product-specific electronic testing systems that combine electrical measurements, functional verification, and firmware programming to detect defective PCBs before final product assembly.
The challenge
In electronics manufacturing, identifying defective circuit boards before final assembly is essential for maintaining product quality and reducing unnecessary production work.
For several electronic products, including motorcycle control units and gauges, complete testing was previously only possible after final assembly.
Consequently, defective circuit boards could remain undetected during manufacturing, resulting in unnecessary assembly work and potential damage to finished products during troubleshooting or rework.
The objective was to develop compact testing and programming systems that could verify circuit boards before their integration into the final product.
Our solution
RAWDEV developed a series of custom PCB testing and programming devices tailored to different electronic products.
Each system combines a specially designed contact adapter with dedicated measurement electronics and control software.
Spring-loaded test contacts establish electrical connections with the circuit board, allowing the system to perform multiple electrical tests.
These include short-circuit detection, continuity checks, resistance and voltage measurements, current consumption monitoring, and verification of individual connections.
Beyond electrical measurements, the systems also test functional components such as LEDs, sensors, and communication interfaces.
Integrated programming capabilities allow the circuit boards to be programmed as part of the testing process.
RAWDEV was responsible for the complete development of the systems, including mechanical contact adapters, electronic hardware, control software, and programming integration.
The result
The result is a range of compact, product-specific testing and programming devices that allow circuit boards to be verified before final assembly.
By identifying defects earlier in the production process, the systems help reduce unnecessary assembly work, simplify troubleshooting, and improve manufacturing quality.
