Custom Potting & Assembly Fixtures

Development and manufacturing of custom 3D-printed fixtures for mo.blaze tens motorcycle indicators, supporting manual potting, oven curing, and subsequent robotic glass-body assembly.

The challenge

During the production of mo.blaze tens motorcycle indicators, the components require potting as part of the manufacturing process.

Previously, the small indicator housings had to be held manually while the potting compound was applied.

This made the process cumbersome and required continuous manual handling.

The objective was to develop a practical solution that would securely position the components during potting while also supporting subsequent manufacturing steps.

Our solution

RAWDEV developed custom 3D-printed fixtures specifically designed for the geometry of the mo.blaze tens indicator housings.

The fixtures hold the components securely during the manual potting process, eliminating the need for operators to hold individual indicators.

After potting, the fixtures can be transferred directly into an oven for curing.

The same fixtures also support the subsequent automated assembly process, in which a robotic system attaches the glass bodies to the indicator housings.

By considering the requirements of multiple manufacturing steps during the design process, RAWDEV created a practical solution that simplifies component handling throughout production.

RAWDEV was responsible for developing the process, designing the fixture geometry, and manufacturing and supplying the 3D-printed fixtures.

The result

The custom fixtures provide a repeatable method for positioning indicator housings during potting, curing, and subsequent assembly.

The solution reduces manual handling and supports an efficient transition between manufacturing steps without requiring complex automated equipment.
